Got lizards?

Upscale Jun 29, 2007 10:14 PM

I decided to do a little hunting right from the comfort of my van, and see how many exotics I could spot in a few known places. These are as-is in situ, no caught and posed stuff. Not great quality, but a pretty good score of some fairly easy to find local exotics here in Ft. Lauderdale. These were all taken within a few hours of each other. (slow work day, and this was fun)

Red-headed Agama-
Hard to get a picture of one of these

Giant Green Ameiva-
.Even harder to get a picture of, more common but man they never sit still!

Very Common Basilisk –
Some of these get a lot bigger than you’d think

Plain ol’ Curly Tail-
I can find in my yard- front yard, back, side- they’re everywhere!

Knight Anole-
Another cheat-this one lives right in my yard too

Spiny Tail Iguana-
Young one chillin’ on a chain link fence.

And countless common Green Iguanas...

Herpin’ in Florida is cool
Enjoy!

I'd wager to say none of those are natives. Pretty cool to see all those runnin around loose. Amazing how every kind of creature seems to find a home in Fla.

Nice photos upscale. The photo with the Cuban knight anole (equestris) was my favorite. Thanks for sharing.
P.S. Yes they are all exotics.
Here is a picture of some wild caught crested anoles copulating. They were caught in Dade County many years ago.
