If all conditions are appropriate (for arguments sake), is it possible that a female monitor (for breeding purposes) just not "like" the male?

Based on my limited experience i would have to say yes.
Hello,
With repect to reptiles in general I have found this to be a possibility or, one way it happens... Sometimes it is the other way around. Also, this can change if the animals get the right pheromonal ques or sometimes when there are environmental or food changes. Alot of factors involved- just make sure you have a male female pair... Best to you- Mike
Oh yeah! Monitors like certain monitors and can dislike certain monitors, to the point they want to kill them any time they see them. Some monitors can be a little more choosy than others though. I know storrs (mine) can and i have heard the gouldii complex can also be like that.
My female tried killing my male and then bred with another male 2 weeks later hahahahaha.
Cheers,
Sean

Off of the street, and placed them into a cage with enough room to move around and fed them, gave them water, and a very few things to do, is there a chance they might not get along? YES...
Is there a chance that they may kill each other? YES.
Is there a chance the female would dominate the male? YES.
So with any life form these things are possible. I think proper introductions seem to go a long way, and what is going on around the cage itself highly effects life inside.
This is the gamble you take trying to place 2 monitors together.
Without seeing the cage, and being able to get a feel for it in person, it is too difficult sometimes to say what could be a problem.
Good luck.

That's why I gave up the bar scene. Of course, a lil' bit of alcohol and I was ready to mate with anything. For the record, I don't recommend using alcohol when introducing potential mates, of ANY species.
Later!

This is why guys never seem to get it.
When you meet women in the bar while your drinking 2 things happen, you dont realize what goes home with you, or you scare the good ones away with the "liquid stupidity" flowing.
One gorgeous woman a good friend spent a long time trying to get rid of (PSYCHO!!!) was one he met in a bar.
He told me that if he could have been able to predict the future, he would have gotten off, reached up, opened the window, kicked her out through it, locked the windows and doors, called the police ,and gotten a PFA on her. Why, he accomplished these things over a much longer period of time, and a few times until it was all said and done, along with losing his home business, etc, because of her. Then again he met a few more psychos after her in the bar, then he stopped going to bars alone.
Wow! More proof that if you want a worn out, "someone else's headache" car, you go to a used car lot. There are few exceptions to the norm.
Monitors may not be so different than humans after all.
Catch ya later, sport!
