Finally Done..

With those summer classes. Oy it's been a bad year for a lot of reasons.. a lot of it had to do with too many new people hired in at the college- they created a lot of confusion.

On parent day which is also show & tell day 2 days ago.. I could not believe the number of kids that brought in box turtles. We had way more than ever before. The parents told me what I always hear, they have countless numbers of box turtles in their backyards. I didn't mention what I know about TX Parks & Wildlife's May 24th ruling about the number of box turtles you can keep. They can find out on their own like everyone else.
I didn't want to say you can't keep that many because first of all most of them won't believe me & if they did then what would happen to all these turtles if they decided to open the gates & get rid of them?
Melissa Kaplan gave me permission to use her box turtle caresheet so every kid in our class got a printed copy of it, I want those parents to read it! NO iceberg lettuce & no cat food PUH-LEAZE!

Anyway...
Hopefully I'll have things back to normal for me in a week or so.
My Janie who ate some pebbles & had been having problems with dehydrating seems to have fully recovered now. It's been several days since she's looked dehydrated and she's eating well so I think we got through that problem all right.

I checked again on the dog chewed box turtle this past Wed. She still needs to be in the hospital but she was moving around a lot in her hospital cage, looked to me like she may be ready for release from the hospital pretty soon.
After keeping that cockatiel I caught & buying him a big flight cage like the caught lovebird has.. DH is going to kill me when he finds another box turtle here LOL but.. hey she'll only be here for recovery care, she belongs to the vet.

Sounds like you've had your hands full! Hopefully things will quiet down a little, now.
