Unintended Consequences

vision Jun 30, 2007 01:05 PM

The road to he11 is always paved with "good intentions".

Imagine if these idiot politicians and nitwit LE officers got exactly what they wished for.

Imagine if all of the herpers just stayed home for year or forever, or decided to go to New Mexico or Arizona to spend their hard earned dollars.

Imagine all those empty hotel rooms, restuarants and gas stations in West Texas.

Imagine those lonely TPW officers with nobody to harass.

I'm thinking that SE AZ sounds a lot more hospitable in August than arguing with some 90 IQ animal cop in the Bend.

...you're headed down to SE Az for some herpin'...

The montane species of rattlesnake are protected...for all the lepidus/pricei/willardi fans out there, these species are strictly hands off...

There are still plenty of interesting species here, and the molossus from SE Az are (IMO) the most attractive anywhere...

We also have Mexican hoggies and green rats as well as Oxybelis, so a trip is definitely worth it...Just make sure you are properly permitted and that you keep your hands off of protected stuff... (BTW photos of protected species are fine...just no collection)

I am having trouble Posting more than three Pics per post is this due to the file size or am I missing something.

Upload your photos to the kingsnake.com photo gallery.

Open a new window on kingsnake for the post.

When you want to put a photo in go to the the photo gallery and open the photo you want to insert. Right click on the photo, select properties, highlight the url, right click on the highlighted url and select copy.

Go back to the post and type .

Repeat for as many photos as you want.

Hope that helps, that's the only way I know how to do it. Very nice AZ photos too.

Is there any wonder why SE Az molossus put molossus from anywhere else to shame?

Love the pricei too!

Thanks for sharing!

I understand that in the past there was much bad blood in the Trans-Pecos between herpers and LE. But that situation has greatly improved. I've found the wardens to be, on the whole, courteous and even friendly-and often they have demonstrated a keen interest in herpetofauna themselves.

There is nothing to be gained by perpetuating the feuds and bad blood of the past. This is NOT the local wardens' doing. Don't make their jobs and our public image any worse.

I would be friendly too if I was LE and I had been granted the right to violate everyone's civil rights.

If they were unfriendly and violating everyone's civil rights, more people would end up fighting them in court and forcing them to defend their ridiculous laws and regulations.

I agree with you 100%. In the past the only warden that ever really gave anyone a hard time was Cervantes. The main reason things has actually improved is because he's not in the field anymore. I remember breaking down west of Langtry and while I was under the hood checking things out he rode up and asked to see my hunting license which I showed him. Because this was before the age of cell phones I asked him if he could call for a tow truck for us and he simply said he could not. Luckily Buzz came driving by and jump started us and we drove back to the Casablanca Motel where we were staying.

That's unbelievable he would not call how tow truck. Imagine if your friend had not come by and you had gotten robbed or something. He must really hate herpers to leave you in that situation. I bet he would have called one for a tourist family or a businessman.

Aaron, he was just out to get the snake hunters. In the 20 some years I've been going down there he's the only warden to give me a hard time. Most others used to say to just not use more than your low beam headlights when using a spot light or just get out and walk the cuts. He tried to deter you from hunting altogether by harrassing you to the point that you left the area and killed your night.
