"Blaze Phase" & Hypo Combination...

ZFelicien Jun 30, 2007 02:32 PM

i've recieved some emails about this cross and i'll post my reply to one individual here.

Let's 1st look at these mutations individually...

The "Blaze phase" Goini: A hyperythristic (spell?) Mutation; from my understanding of this mutation the "Blaze" trait enhances color when present... (i.e. if "blaze" was expressed in a muddy brown colored specimen it would enhance the muddy brown color)

The Hypomelanistic Brooksi: This mutation reduces the amount of black pigment expressed...

Snake selected for this project:

Female:
Blaze originally popped up in Hi-red Goini... my female still expresses some nice pigments unlike most blaze phase Goini I've seen.

Male:
Hypomelanistic Flame Brooksi... the term Flame was giving to "Normal"/non-morph Florida Kings that expressed above average red pigments and continued to express these pigments into adulthood... The Hypo gene was bred into these "Flames", creating the hypo "flames"

now lets think for a sec...

a) The hypo takes most of the dark pigment away...

b) The "blaze" intensifies the ground color ...

c) The two specimen selected for this project still show good color into adulthood...

d) 2x Hets are all have Orange bands and i can already see Orange Speckling...

soooooo all together the ingredients for a GREAT project IMO...

My hope and belief is that this combination will yield THE most INTENSE RED King crosses ever seen!

thanx for look'n & read'n

~ZF

I mean, you have to reduce the pattern dont you? You are still a generation away from prodcing something close to this....

Jeff correct me if I am wrong but aren't those just plain goini crossed into which the brooks hypo gene has been migrated?

That is KILLER Jeff!

I'm SPEECHLESS!!!

Yeah they are killer but it is something that anyone could have done many years ago. Same thing with the hybino brooks. It amazing to me it took this long for someone to just breed a lavender to a hypo or a hypo to a goini. Just goes to show you how fast thing will be progressing here with the brooks kings now that we have many new morphs that have been bred into each other. I bred the Peanut Butters into a lot of stuff and will even have quad hets this year (hypo X axanthic X albino X peanut Butter).

The skys the limit on brooks and we will see many more amazing things with them and the goini crosses.

i did hypo x lav albino brooks 10 years ago and
1) no one showed any interest
2) the hatchlings all died in egg, most with deformities. so i split up that pair.

now i am glad that
1) breeders are finally catching on to brooks morphs
2) customers seem intertested

3) you made the same mistake last year when you sold off your Whitesided hypos.

I am still kicking myself for not buying them off you.

haaaaaa... i sold everything (except pines), my friend, I planned that in advance, the fall of '05. so there were no regrets on my end, no post sale remorse. downsizing as a choice was easier than if it was forced. all i have now for kings is a nice eastern from mark k. and a white phase x hypo that i produced. i have to tell you, it is fun being a sideline quarterback...
but you're right those were cool.

... Would that be a good summary of your post?

in my opinion the 2x HomoZ BLaze X Hpo will blow those away!

Believe it or not the Blaze mutation ALSO affects pattern, so it's quit possible to produce striped/aberrant/patternless from this cross

only time will tell...

not at all. I am very interested in this cross and tried to talk Tom out of those last year.I think you would settle for a similar outcome if you try and cross them back.Right? I mean I try for a certain outcome when I breed. I think it the responsible way rather than just let any two snakes go at it. I wish I held onto my double het for hybinos now....they are NICE.How do you expect the blaze to accentuate the hypo? I would be interested in seeing your f1s. Crossing them into this line I am working with wouldn't be a bad idea.....Don't be HATIN.LOL.Jeff
