I broke the law today!

My wife and I were picking up the trash (mostly beer products) this morning on our section of highway we adopted near our house. Yes, TPW & HH, most of us herpers truly do care about the environment. Anyway, shortly after getting out of our truck, I spotted a small snake on the road about 25 yards away. With brazenly reckless disregard for the new law, I picked up the less than spectacular black neck garter and removed it from the road and placed it on the other side of the ROW Sanctuary. Yes, I actually took it out of the sanctuary. You know, that same sanctuary were countless others have been squished over the years.

I hope that once TPW reads this they will find it in their collective heart to just give me a warning this time.

This law is truly amazing in its stupidity!

you should be drawn and quartered!

Since you have collected literally hundreds of blackneck garters and sold them all to the Asian market at this printing, you will almost certainly have to pay a stiff fine.

How did you know? I have never told anybody about my BN garter/Asian market deal. They pay extra for Black Necks, especially the white ones. It's so lucrative I have no problem paying a fine, just wish you hadn't brought it to everyone's attention. Now everybody will get in and bring the prices down. Garters are almost as lucrative as the w/c alterna that I have found over the years. They have only cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of around 7K a piece. Brilliant!

Some dim bulb in Austin might read your post and think you are serious.

$7K apiece means not how much he paid for the snakes but rather how much spent over the years in attempting to catch the snakes.

Probably true. I will quickly clarify.

The garter snake deal...........copletely bogus. Only an attempt at a humorous response to Shaky.

The alterna deal.....the price in expenses, i.e. tourist related dollars injected into the areas I stayed multiple times each year, equate to around 7K per alterna found for me. I'm sure the expenses per alterna are somewhat less for eastern range hunters. My point is one can not make money by finding alterna once expenses are considered!

Hope that clarifies.
