If you like Diamonds.. Look into 75% Diamond x Jungle integrades. I know they are not real diamonds.. but there are some killer animals out there and many of them look very very similar to pure diamonds. (Will Bird is the man there.. you think his rainbows are nice? You should see the DxJ integrades!!)

As for picking an animal.. find one that you like. Not one that someone on a forum thinks you should get. Do your research and find animals that fit your budget, have husbandry needs that you can provide, and most importantly, INTEREST YOU..

BTW, the only reason I bring the DxJ into it was you mentioned the cost of diamonds. DxJ integrades can be purchased for a fraction of what pure diamonds can.. it is still a decision that you should make

i agree with you on the cost reduction of the 75% and some of them are outstanding but i have been wanting a pair for some time of pure and for me pure diamonds are the way to go just somethign about them that scream BUY ME! that so far is one of the best ideas i have heard maybe if i see a nice enough one at the show i may give in

tsusnakeguy Jul 01, 2007 05:31 PM

I like Coastal Carpet pythons. They can get around 12 feet and are not very girthy. But that is just my suggestion.

i already got one she is a sweet heart and her eggs are due soon good choice tho that would fit into perfect of what i was about asking for size etc. tho a scrub would be better fit but i dont know if i quite trust them yet i have heard both ways on scrubs

Railrider1920 Jul 01, 2007 06:09 PM

My buddy had one that was about 7 ft long and probably 3-4 inch diameter. Or maybe a Black or southern Pine? Not a 12 footer, but they are good size snakes.

lol i know where your coming from there milk snake geesh and normal retic i think your pushing the odds on both ends lol now if you woulda said a dwarf retic then you would be talkin but im really thinking more andmore about a bcc

Snakesunlimited1 Jul 01, 2007 06:51 PM

Dude this is such a horrible way to decide what snake you want. You are going to be cleaning up after this thing for 20 years if you are good at your husbandry and if it is not an animal that you picked out because you really love it, you will not want to get out there and pick up that poop 2 years from now, never mind 20.

With that said I would personally love all of the snakes you mentioned, besides the burms or retics, but one you didn't mention that is an amazing animal in its own right is the true red tails. Any of the true red tails have the chance to get 12 ft and have decent girth. They are right on the line of a one man snake and many are a 2 man snake. You would need to research what locality you like the most and go from there. The Chicago NARBC seems to have quite a few BCC breeders and as we get closer you will likely be able to research the vendors off the NARBC site to see who is gonna be there and maybe even reserve a snake of your choice. Also you could but up a post on the Boa forum and ask who will be vending there.

I tell you what, nothing makes a show cooler than picking up a snake that you have put on hold and having it be everything you thought it would be. A nice BCC can run between $200-$600 but they can be worth it. When I get myself situated in the future and get more cage space for the big boys, I am personally going to look for a nice purple line of Guyanan BCC.

i didnt say i was gonna buy the first thing some said i was using this as a brain storm type of thing for ideas and as many snakes as i have already im gonna be cleanign up more crap than i want in the next 20 years lol. but bcc is on my to get list i just havent found the right one yet. and with bcc i heard that alot are "docile" but tempermental i have never owend bcc just bci and they are goofy in there own now my pure bco when i had her she was a devil. but like i said just tryin to brain storm just incase i had one to many energy drinks and skipped over a few when i was tryin to think of what all fits into the size catagory that i want thats all

Liann Jul 02, 2007 08:14 AM

I have to second the BCC suggestion. My all time favorite of my collection is my Suri - gorgeous color, good size (6'+), very docile temperment. I've heard stories about them tending to be more "aggressive" than BCI, but I have never had any problems with mine. He has been a sweetie from the beginning and is a very impressive snake to look at. In my case, he is still a very manageable one-girl snake. My husband will not go near him, so it's all me.

here is some of Barry Miller's

and my favorite dripping in color

Gus has great locale boas don't get me wrong but Barry has the suris and also Jeff Clark has a female suri with a pinkish head I believe and that pink makes them special animals in my eyes. I would expect to spend like $500 on a real nice one but cheaper for the normals and getting on a waiting list is prolly best to get that nice one too I plan on picking one up when funds are right in a few years. I think they are the best bcc locale boa on the market and a few bci dwarf are mind blowing as well but you want big huh lol

Well you have seemed to cover most of the snakes that are fairly calm. Now you are getting into territory where the snake may not be a big pussy cat. Here are some more suggestions:
Dumerils Boas
White-lipped python
Amythistine python

Even a hogg island can get some girth on it but they usually top out around 6 feet but some may get bigger or smaller.

I have been racking my brain but that is all I can think of as far as boas and pythons.
