There is no conspiracy or secret organization, nobody is trying to be exclusive or elitist.

In fact the name of the organization is:

“Herp Conservation Unlimited”

And the basic goal is to preserve our rights as recognized sportsmen while he use our natural resources with a sustainable take. This is to be a public non-profit organization with open membership. And yes, everybody is welcome to join… We will be posting details on this for people mull over, but a few things need to be remembered.

This will not happen overnight, it takes time to get something like this put together. But we are working as fast as we can, and as we put it together the list of involved people is growing.

To start with the people heading the organization are appointed, but once it is off the ground there will be an election (if you do not care for somebody now, remember you can vote somebody else in shortly, or run for the post yourself) (I suspect elections would start after a few months off the ground). And being non-profit nobody is compensated for the efforts on this beyond preserving our hobby.

The lack of news is just that, it is not the result of some secret meetings. The one meeting that was had with HH’s office is well known to almost everybody. It was a groundwork meeting only so that both sides could feel things out. More are planned, but we do not have a firm date scheduled yet.

We need to remember that it will help expedite our cause to have HH and any other reps behind us going forward. And for now there is promise for a productive dialog with his office.

We also need to have constructive dialogs with TP&W to make things work for us.

There will be a web page with all the info, but if we need to in the mean time we can set up some sort of mailing list to keep concerned parties up to date. In fact when memberships are taken, I would expect some form of online info to be available.

Troy is working on the details of this organization and will be posting them soon if he has not already.

Joe is out in the boonies with no internet access and limited cell reception, documenting some casualties in the roadside sanctuaries. He will be updating us as soon as he gets back, likely sometime Monday or Tuesday.

I am willing to hear out anything you want in email… But if I am flooded with it, understand that it will take some time to respond to everybody.

I apologize for the lack of info so far, but please remember it is not because we have secrets, it is because there has been no new updates for a few days. And remember we need to talk on good terms with all the legislative reps and members of TP&W so if you need to vent concerns try to do so off the forum as much as possible. If you do not already have somebody to email or call about those concerns, you can email those concerns to me… I will be glad to hear them out and even make sure that they are addressed.

Lance

BTW, this was a quick free flow typing thing, so please excuse, typos, bad grammar, and shortcoming on organizing the points.

The most dangerous thing in the world is a man with nothing to lose.

I think it is great that you Tx herpers are getting organized and it sounds like you are putting together a decent plan, but it does not hurt to remind the enemy that they have inadvertantly created hundreds or maybe thousands of men with absolutely nothing to lose, men the country over who will happily spend their time and money to undo the injustices that were unfairly foisted upon us through devious and underhanded means.

At this particular time, Tx road cruisers have lost everything. Things can only get better from here and reminding these fools in politics and LE that ultimately the people have all the power and that they work for us, cannot possibly hurt us any more than we have already been damaged.

Diplomacy is fine for a while, but if diplomacy fails, there has to be a plan B and plan B has to include removing people from political office and from LE jobs.

They know we are packing heat. That simple knowledge will hopefully keep them at (or bring them to) the table.

If we are reckless enough to pull out all our guns and start pointing them, they will likely shoot back.

Likely shoot back?

I repeat, we have nothing to lose as we have already lost everything.

We are now virtually bullet proof.

We have a chance to settle this without the fight... We should not pass that up.

they could have outlawed the keeping of any native Texas herp . . . save Diamondback Rattlesnakes.

Think that's unrealistic? Look at Georgia . . .

You are wrong, they can make it all go away. They can make it illegal to own herps period. That would be stupid and unjust, but they can do more.

If we need a plan B, and everybody that would have herped TX pitches in the time and money they would have put into herping... We could make a few dents.

But for now, talking at least has an open door.

The politicians pass those laws. Once they are passed LE really has no choice other than to enforce them. They have taken an oath to upold the laws of the state....not just the ones that they personally agree with but all of them...until such time as they are changed. So kindly keep your guns pointed in the right direction and not toward those field agents who are tasked with trying to enforce this mess.

In my experience, the most dangerous thing in the world is a WOMAN with nothing to lose. Men come a distant second.

At least have we clarified the officially sanctioned beginning of the fining period?
Say it's Sept 1!
