Okay, this is my first snake so I have lots of questions. My milk snake ate Wednesday evening. How do I know when she needs to eat again? I don't want to feed her too soon.

That's a nice looking milk snake.
Wednesday happens to be the feeding day for my snakes...
They will be alright on a once a week feeding.
If you want the snake to grow faster, two a week would be more sufficient. At that point I'd feed the snake several smaller prey items, once Wednesday, and once Saturday.
Your call.
But once a week is just fine.

Thanks for answering me. She really is a pretty snake.
wednesday happen to be my feeding day too but once in a while i feed them thursday. anyway i agree you can feed once or twice a week without problem. always have water.
Hondurans are very hardy snakes. The younger they are the more often you should feed them until they reach adult hood. In the wild a young snake wants to grow as fast as it can before winter and then mating season. Personally I feed my yearlings every 3-4 days and my feeding Schedules are every Sunday, Wednesday/Thursday depending on the snake. The key is getting a solid feeding pattern and sticking to it. Just like people not all snakes are the same and some have faster metabolisms then others. If you choose to feed twice a week as I do make sure to choose smaller prey items. As they get older you can choose to feed them once a week with a prey item not much larger then the thickest part of the snake’s body, (same holds true with a yearling) however I feed all my snakes but my Boids twice a week or more.
Hope this helps..
i second that. i do just about same with my young snakes. but i have reasons to do so.
Not sure about your hondo but NA milks sometime go off feeding in the summer so I feed them as much as they will eat in april may and june so they can be ready for the slow down and I stop feeding them in the winter. This sometimes means several pinks or fussies in one feeding. then maybe nothing for a few weeks. In the wild they may raid a nest and eat many or all at one time.Or they may eat a snake or a skink which is a larger meal then a few pinks. What I am saying is some snakes may not want to eat on certain days so when they do just give them all they want. Over feeding can be a health problem also as it is with their keepers.
