GECKOS UNLIMITED Aug 18, 2003 01:33 AM

I recently went to Val Verde County, Texas after a some rain passed through in order to take some photos of herps in the area. I found some Scaphiopus couchi and this species. Do any of you guys know what species it is. Thanks for your help.

The American Toad (Bufo americanus) is not found in this area, but thanks for your input.

No middorsal stripe. I'd say that is none other than the Texas toad (Bufo speciosus).

Mike,

Yes, I believe that it has to be B. speciosus, but I've never seen them that light. Obviously, I'm not a toad expert, but I sure do enjoy taking photos of them in the field. I was hoping to find some B. debilis. I used to find B. retiformis when I lived in Tucson. Thanks for your help! Here's an S. couchi photo that I thought you might like.

Yes, it is a light colored specimen. I've seen pictures of speciosus in many different shades, even some with red "warts". Nice specimens anyways. Good luck in finding debilis.
