HELP! Gecko not eating!!

JannieWolf Jul 02, 2007 11:40 AM

Hello all,

I am really in need of some advice here! I have a 6 month-ish gecko who is not eating anymore. Last week I noticed his back legs were a little crooked so I took him to the vet. She said he didn't have enough calcium in his diet.

For the past 3 days I've been trying to force feed him a calcium supplement but he has stopped eating his other food. I've held crickets and mealworms up to his nose but he refuses to eat them. His tail is getting very thin too.

What else can I do?

The gecko is probably stressed from the attempted force feeding (mine was too) what you should do is A) put a little dish of just calcium in the cage, they tend to take it when needed B) check the temps and everything in the cage, just to make sure. C) when you do try to feed him live food again, just be sure to supplement them, this is a good way to make sure he is getting all of his vitamins. Good Luck!!!!!

Ok, we are having pretty much the exact same conversation in the main leo forum... Check it out, there are a lot of ideas. It is in the last posts. Hope it helps!

I think we're ok now but thanks for all the advice. The temp in the cage was a bit cold for a few days but I regulated it. I also gave him a mix of wet dog food, wet baby food and baby O.J. and he seems to be fattening back out again.
