How do you tell babies from each of these species apart.
From what I've read the husbandry for each is pretty similar.
The prices from low to high seem to be Children's, Stimson's, and Anthills.
I want some characteristics (scale count or arrangement maybe) that will help me be sure I'm getting what I expect when I purchase.

Telling hatchlings apart can be difficult with these species, although it is possible to make educated guesses if you are familiar with each species.

As adults you should be able to tell the difference just by looking at them. If you buy from a breeder (and I suggest you do) you can ask to see pics of the parents. Buying these from pet stores you never know what you are going to get.

I have the scale counts for each species somewhere. I'll try to dig them up.

From what we've seen, there is also a difference in eye color. The anthills have a gold/orange color, while Children's are more of a brown.

eye color is misleading as their are many differant shades of color for the species. it is not a method to use. here is a picture of my childrens python that i bought from tinypytons and it has a rich golden color to the eyes but the normal coloration is brownish.
