The Best Looking Boa

usshorts Jul 02, 2007 04:49 PM

With all the new morphs coming out I was wondering which ones you folks find attractive purely from an aesthetic point of view.

I respect the great accomplishments people are making as far as understanding the genetics, but this is purely about physical looks.

For example, the boas my none snakekeeping friends seems to find the most attractive are Boas with clean symmetrical patterns (BCI or BCC), nicely patterned and contrasted albino boas, and nice coral boas.

What's interesting is that most do not find any totally or mostly white snakes attractive (boas, retics, or balls). They say it's "just a white snake. The patterns are what make them pretty."

i'm really into the tiger retics- as well as lavendar albino retics- what isn't cool about a purple snake?
I like the peruvian red tails as well- good contrast.
I like piebald BP-s that don't have a ton of white but a pretty even amount of color and white. - i really like the color difference.

Even my neighbors (who aren't into snakes) go "ooh and ahh" over the lavender retics.

From a genetic standpoint nothing super special, just a pastel salmon. But this boy is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Even more so in person. People who see the collection always like him

That's a good beautiful snake.
I'm planning to add a couple to my collection.

I think Silver-backs are the prettiest boas, nothing beats a
light, clean, all silver looking boa with tiny, thin saddles, or
aberrant saddles.

People who aren't into boas & pythons tend to see things
completely differently, like you said.

Just about everyone who I've shown my boas & pythons to in the
past has said that they liked my old Dumerils the most, back
then I used to have some very clean Guyanans.

Attractive

I love the saddle contrast... white "glowy" undertone that often turns to a golden undertone... and killer tails. Anytime I see a new morph I wonder "What would that look like as a sunglow?".

Heres some of mine.

This one is the father to my litter of sunglows this year. He has kept tons of contrast and brought up some excellent golden undertones. Absolutely breathtaking in person.

This first one is my holdback male. These pics are before his second shed... I can't wait to see what he looks like after the second. The ones that have shed pulled up tons of red... and this guy was the reddest of the litter.

Here are more... that have gone through their second shed.

I have to admit that a good old standard BCC with nice clean markings really makes my day.

very cool question, what fun!

I love patterns on my boas... the patternless ones are interesting, but I am drawn towards patterns personally.

I'm partial to either black and white snakes or ones with lots of pinks and oranges. One of these days.. blue boas! That would be amazing.

My favorites or ones that I would like to see:
Jungle Anery (oh boy!!)
Love a nice salmon harlequin or sunglow harlequin
Arabesque
Square Tails
Nice normal with lots of contrast and good tail color

That was fun!

I'm going to break with the pack and say snows. There's something about the white eyes and pale pattern that make it look like something ghostly out of a fairy tale.

I'm also a sucker for any high contrast sunglow, but I've yet to see a sunglow over a year or two old and perhaps 3 feet in length, so I don't know how well they coloration ages.
