dehydration

fastjunkie Jul 02, 2007 07:14 PM

Can a dehydrated gtp look as if he is going through a shed?I got my gtp out the other day for inspection and his skin and eyes looked very opaque as if in shed.I gave him and his cage a mist and the next day he looked fine..no more opaque skin or eyes?Is there a fine line between dehydration and a shed cycle?
Thanx all,
Mike

I've seen something similar before were our GTP looks as if it's going to shed and I start spraying it a lot so hopefully the shed will be pretty clean. And then a day or so later I had a hard time telling whether it had shed or not, but there wasn't any skin in the cage anywhere. But then in the next few days it did shed. I think it's part of the shedding process that it looks like it's going shed and then looks less likely to shed right before the shed happens. Does anyone else's GTP do this?

Almost all species of snakes go into blue cycle than clear before shed. Usually they clear and then will shed within 3-4 days. It's normal.
