Crap Bazooka (nasty pics)

BWSmith Jul 02, 2007 10:55 PM

Every once in a while a Dry reminds you that it is always an adventure. Imagine if you will, a 6 foot cage divided into a 4' cage with an acrylic door and a 2' dark area with a wood door. A 7.5' Texas Indigo is coiled in the dark part after a meal a couple days earlier of about 8 chicks. A strange gurgling sound emanates from that part of the cage. I begin to investigate by opening the wooden door. Of course, before opening the door, my brain registers exactly what the sound is but does not send out a "Cease and Desist" order to my hand because we are not in the Hot Room with all the pointy snakes. So I open the door to find the tail propped against the top lip of the cage and spanning the entire opening so the vent is dead center. No sooner does my mind echo the word "CRAP!" than a stream of it is unleashed.

Ok, I admit it, I am impressed. I had to measure it and Chainsaw produced a spew of vile liquid that spanned 42"!

Of course, let's add some irony to this. He aimed for, and very effectively hit my bottle of Nolvasan. Showering a bottle of disinfectant in liquid crap. Ya gotta love Drys.

I am not so sure the snake does not have Coccidiosus after looking at that. A healthy snake turd has some white and or black and white. There is a possibility that your snake stressed and sprayed some un-digested food but my hunch is Coccidosus. A healthy snake turd should have a solid aspect to it and it should have a certain smell. If the smell is somewhat putrid you might have problems.

That was the first wave (2 seconds or so). I actually closed the door rapidly and all the solid material was stopped by the the door. That was just the initial "burst", the rest of the fecal matter was normal, but contained.

VILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dry fecal matter is unlike any other snake species. First time I had mine "explode" I was hauling them to the vet in fear of some major bacterial problem....nothing wrong though - just good 'ol indigo turds. King cobras also have this same propensity for embalming an entire facility.

It is anything but "dry"!

Hershey squirts are the norm, and yes, they do get chunky in the middle.

That is too funny…..To clean that up you better love Indigos and have a strong stomach.

I remember the first time I fed my Indigos fish. My wife walked into the house from work while I was hurrying to clean up and started dry heaving.

Just tooo funny…

I assume most Cribos do not have this habit. I do not recall this happening to me although I handle them very seldom.

A few people I have talked to have left Indigos because of the X crap factor.

"No one told me how bad their ^&%*&*%^ smells!"

I know this is just the pre-show , but maybe

madmatt Jul 04, 2007 12:06 PM

Maybe you could send pics of the full fireworks show that came after.

This is what people new to indigos, searching for answers need to know, IMHO.

Thanks for posting Mr. Smith!!!
