feeding bites lol

goregrind Jul 03, 2007 05:23 AM

ive been biten twice during feeding time this month. last night my thumb was warmer than the f/t rodent so my almost full grown ball tried eating it, she even tried throwing a coil around but i used the other hand to hold it back. i had my fiance pour a glass of cold water allover her head, works like a charm.

a few weeks back i was feeding my small blizzard some fuzzies, when she was smaller i would just hold them by the head and dangle them for her, well... she grew now she comes right up and grabs them, and she missed. she snagged my middle finger and threw a few coils round, it took three glasses of water for her to let go, and the first had little pieces of ice!

Hi
must be just as unpleasent for the snakes as it is for you .Perhaps feeding tongs would solve the problem

Just be patient, most snakes realize that something is wrong in a few seconds and let go.
That being said, I had one that spites me for no apparent reason, and literally tries to kill me.
I used to put a drop of everclear in the corner of his mouth, and he'd release immediately.
After a few years of doing this, I think he actually developed a taste for everclear.
I just figured he'd let go with time, so I took a nap with him lashed around my hand.
I woke up 2 hours later, he was juuuuust starting to loosen his grip, and my waking up made him tighten up again.
Too bad.
He is a pretty lavender striped cal-king.

about how long does it take for others to let go? i think i could just wait it out next time if its my small corn. but i defenetly would not want my bigger ball (the one that got me a few days ago) to put coils on me, she is so strong she cuts off circulation when shes relaxed, when you put her around your neck you can barely breath and she has an insane feeding response(pops rats and bites at people if there is any trace of rodent scent in the air). i would brobably lose a finger if i let her take her time and let go when she felt like it.
