Egg binding in GHOST

bosoxbomb Jul 03, 2007 09:01 AM

4 year old healthy Ghost laid 2 perfect eggs early Saturday and definitely more to come. Late Saturday.....nothing. Sunday...nothing. I felt her end near the vent and discovered an inch long, quarter inch wide, rock-hard something that moves freely up and down the canal about 4 inches or so. several eggs are behind it. I tried palpating to no avail. Put in bigger cage and giving a warm soak.....nothing. Usually very active she has become very lethargic laying in her nest box. Do I wait this out or get help? Herp vets in Tampa Bay area?

Just leave her alone. Only check minimally. She may end up passing them. I've had them even pass next year, although I'd aspirate on most occasions...but just wait

Found her DEAD this morning! She was a gentle giant, and kids loved her. Our family is torn up about the loss. Extracted 3 rock hard calcified eggs blocking 6 other huge healthy eggs. The bind also prevented last few meals from being digested and passed. This may sound heartless but we wanted to see if eggs would produce....hopefully another like her. Is it possible???????
