Seems like many people think they should be like $200. I couldn't disagree more.

Seems like many people think they should be like $200. I couldn't disagree more.
what happened to the spiders and the mojave is happening to all co-doms. prices are dropping like crazy... but 200 is to low 500 that is believable
"but 200 is to low"
There is no "too low". The fair price is what is determined by market forces (supply and demand) and, ultimately, what is decided on by the buyer and the seller. If a buyer is only willing to pay $200.00 for a cinny and can find a seller that will sell a cinny for $200.00, than that is what it is worth. If, on the other hand, someone prices a cinny at $10,000.00 and can find someone to buy it for that price than that is what that animal is worth. I'll admit that I am not really that big into ball pythons (I have and albino and a het that were gifted to me) so I don't follow prices that closely. However, the free market is the free market no matter what the product. The thing that amazes me is the number of conversations/posts that I have heard/read that would be considered collusion and price fixing in any other industry. Just my thoughts, for whatever they are worth.....currently I am asking $1.00 but if I can't find a buyer I may have to go down to $0.02.

You understand...
Money, like water, finds its own level.
Also, when people talk about the urgent need to increase the number of people that own Ball Pythons, and thereby increase demand and prices, I shudder.
The last thing in the world that would be good for this hobby, craft, art and yes - business, would be for it to receive huge interest by a mass audience.
That would temporarily drive up damand & prices until the supply caught up. Make no mistake, if there is money to be made, supply will always accommodate the demands.
In the end the market would be flooded.
It is like what happens with electronics and toys here in the USA.
Initially, lets say a Toy Wooden Train may be by a small company, which instills high quality and standards, but also costs more.
As soon as the Train begins to receive mass appeal, look out!
It is then copied by many and a gazillion of them are made in China, someones basement factory or wherever is cheapest. The quality goes into the toilet and the prices plummet.
Instead of a cherished collectors item, this Toy Wooden Train becomes a cheap, disposible piece of garbage and is soon cast aside and forgotten.
Lets keep Ball Pythons as cherished collectors item and not a novel throw away item for the masses.

well if you ask me $200 seems a little low from where they were but it is a buyer's market...I would probably give $200 for a cinny..not much more just because its not an impressive morph to me...the combos are amazing but the cinny itself leaves something to be desired. I understand how you couldn't disagree more but you cant really count yourself as an "uneffected party" because you produced more of them than any other morph of them this year from what your ads on other sites say. I'm sure you would agree with 07 males being $1000 out of the egg. (I know I would if I produced a lot of them) anyways all you can really do is price them at what you think is fair and make adjustments to parallel the market anything your going to produce to you is going to be gold...its like your children..and you almost feel insulted when someone offers you $200 for one of your kids.
I couldn't agree more... With all the new morphs coming out you cant expect to get much for a base morph anymore... i mean, it's a harsh reality but it makes total sense. To make money at this you have to be keeping up with the pack.
Not everyone likes the same thing. I do like the look of cinny's better than the Black pastel. But they produce diffrent looking supers and combo's..To say that cinny's are worthless is in my opinion is wrong. You cant have the other combo's without them. And with new hobbist purchasing Ball pythons for the first time.Maybe they cant aford combo morphs yet but can only aford cinny's now.Or feel like me and like they way they look

The base ingredients, ie; the truely "new" genetic traits are the things that are worth paying for. The facts are, however, there havent been as many truely new genetic animals found in the last couple years.
The people think they are going to make a killing from doubles and triples are only fooling themselves. People are not going to pay the prices for these.
Look at it this way:
You need flour, eggs and butter to make a cake. Without these three, there is NO cake. These are the base genetics for the cake. People can not get around this. However, when someone is trying to sell a pre-made cake for much more than the sum of the ingredients bought seperately, 8 times out of 10, the buyer will buy the base ingredients and make their own cake..
Thats the rub.
only difference is that it doesn't take 3-4 years to make a cake. You also have to consider that you may not hit on the combo you are looking for on your first breeding. Also, not every female gives you good eggs. I have a 1900g female het lavender albino that I paid a ton of money for that is getting ready to lay a nice clutch of 6 slugs.

Yep, to each there own.
I really like the way the Cinn look and I bought a pair this year. $200 for them is a real low price. IMO, I would say 400 to $500 each, but thats what I think.
Cinnys will hold their price better because they are a more subtle morph.
Everyone wants the Spider, Pastel & Bee, just because thet look so cool.
The Cinny is under the radar a bit.
Also, the all black snake is just too sexy...
Like Angelina Jolie in a black dress.
Ryan, you will do well - stay the course.
I agree Zef. I love Cinnies because they make the supers. And I'm not worried. I really don't need 12 males of anything, but I also refuse to sell anything for less than it's worth. I was basically just venting about the "general public", that thinks they should be able to name their own price on everything. It's irritating. You'd think they would be happy they can get morph animals so cheap now, but instead they just want 'em cheaper. They just don't get it. I'm glad they're selling off their entire collections everyday on the classifieds cause balls aren't the get rich quick scheme they envisioned. I hope they lost a bundle too between what they paid and what they're selling for. Haha. I have no sympathy. Good riddance.
Right on -
Its like a good cleansing with some potent green tea. Many, many where here for only money and prices were driven to an unsustainable level.
There is a correction happening and I love the good deals that are out there!!
The fact of the matter for me is I spent what I considered to be alot of money investing in snakes I want to breed and own and I dont regret it for a minute.
They were, to me, worth the money I paid for them at the time and still are.
The yokels are exiting this hobby and I say see ya later.
Prices will eventually stabalize.
Set your prices to what you feel is reasonable, and stick by your guns.
Great, there goes the diet! I just love cake......

Cinns are one of the morphs that I feel, can be graded and sold accordingly! There are some $200 Cinns, if you want to add ugly animals to your collection. I am small time, and feel quality over quantity anyday, is a good idea to stay true too.
This is my Cinn male, very light, and very attractive in my book. I would not have paid $200 for an ugly one.
