Talking points of the letters

Joe Forks Jul 03, 2007 10:17 AM

are being drafted as we speak.

I would like a copy of every letter sent out to the Governor or the commissioners so that I can review the content and also present the stack in person.

logical and rational arguments and talking points may be posted right here under this post. If they are hostile, irrational or illogical then don't bother.

Thanks
Joe

I don't quite understand. Aren't we in discussions with Hilderbran's office that could be productive for us?
If they are wouldn't it be possible that we could end up endorsing him?
Isn't there quite a bit of evidence that Hildebran was an unknowing pawn for certain grudging members of TPWD?
Wouldn't it be better to ask Mr. Hilderbran for a meeting before begining an opposition campaign against him? Stressing that he needs to show some substantial actions of goodwill immeadiatly.

That's exactly what I'm working towards and I want insurance that things are going to get done. How is he supposed to change this law if he is no longer a legislator? Call in a personal favor?

There are four seats coming up in the commission plus the director. We HAVE to voice our concerns NOW to insure that our needs and the needs of non-game management are met. It is way past time that the department spent a little more time and money on non-game management and resources.

If he doesn't already understand that we are dedicated and serious about this, then he will now.

I want a stack of no less than a thousand letters backed by the members of every herp society in Texas in my hands within two weeks. This time I'm going to make sure the Governor GETS them myself.

This will need immediate action and we can not just sit on our hands with a hopeful look on our face. If it is important to let us know the facts on this then they should at the very least call Joe and talk over the phone. If it is important to settle this matter then HH, not Todd K. can find 30 minutes to make that phone call.

I'm willing and eager to work with Representative Hilderbran. If he can help us great. If he can't or wont we can isolate or even defeat him

However, Director Hilderbran could present a HUGE risk. He MIGHT help us (or seem to) just long enough to get the post then stab us in the back again. Once in that position, it would be EXTREMELY difficult to get him out. I'm unwilling to take that risk.

IF he had reached out to us about his desire for this post BEFORE it became pubic, I'd be much more inclined to support (or at least not oppose) him. As it stands, he didn't even show up in person for the meeting with Joe. If he wants my support and trust, he is going to have to earn it.

I would suggest for Mr. Hilderbran immeadiatly meet with our group and work out very quickly a full and complete compromise with HCU and provide us with a written endorsement signed by himself personally and signed by high ranking members of TPWD who will not be changing jobs in the future. In addition Mr. Hilderbrand should help us seek a judicial injunction on enforcement of the ROW law.

We still need to influence the selection of the new commissioners. We need people on that commission that are "herp friendly". It wouldn't hurt if the Director was "herp friendly" either.

We still have business with both the Governor and the commission.
