merchantmarine Jul 03, 2007 11:00 AM

I accidently left the lid of my lizard cage open last night and my Leo escaped. I live in an apartment with lots of places for him to hide. WHere would be some good places to focus on? Would he most likely be in a dark place? Any help you guys could give me would me most appreciated

i hear ya! the few times ive lost my guys i have found them under the couch, under the washer and dryer, and in the closet which is never fun given that there is a bunch of Sh*t in there. it never really took more then a half an hour of looking between me and my boyfriend. however when we use to live in a house that had heat vents coming from the floor we had a hatchling fall into 1 of the vents! couldnt find him for a day until we heard him freak out when the heater was turned on! lucky for him he decided not to venture any further otherwise he may have been killed. good luck!

If the gecko eats mealworms, here's an idea...put down some tinfoil near where you think he/she may be hiding, and put the mealworm dish in the middle...when the gecko comes out to eat, you'll hear it walking on the tinfoil...

I am sorry that your leo got out. I have no answer for you, but just be careful when you walk around. be sure and turn lights on when you get up when it is dark. Leave water and calcuim around and maybe even mealworms in a container that they cannot get out of....
