I was just wondering which gartersnake gets to be the largest?
And what is the record?

I agree that the giant garter is the largest but if I had to pick a runner up from my experience I'd say the Red Spotted Garter from Gresham, Oregon would be it. I used to catch them when I was younger and I have an old photo of one that was about 3'6". Real girthy as well.
They're probably my favorite garter due to their intense colors.

the giant garter is the largest, averaging 48" in length. Easterns, t sirtalis sirtalis, would probably be 2nd...I have a melanistic eastern thet's 41" long...Scott Felzer has had a couple of florida blues that were 44" or so..

The giant garter aside, the next largest are most likely Florida Blues from the Keys region. There have been recorded specimens of over 4 ft.
