There are a whole lot of people in the herping community that are very angry that have as favors to the rest us backed down on the public bashing of his reputation, and they for the most part have done so. The ones that have not, we have been talking to promising that good things can come of talking with HH if we give it some time and understanding. If this whole thing turns out to be an effort to just get us off his back with no action planned to fix our issues with HB 12 (2414 and 1309) then we will once again will need to be very vocal and make every effort to fix this by means outside of his office:
We still have other legislators that are sympathetic to our needs in the herping community. And I have no doubt that we can get them behind a fix to the legislation on hunting from a ROW.
We have a large grass roots base that is in the process of formalizing an organization to protect our rights and needs.
We will only gain more resolve the longer this drags out without resolution, and without herping we have nothing better to do with our free time and money.
Bottom line I say it is a good idea to take this all in and form a plan of action, but not much time.... before Friday we should have a plan of action and the means to execute that plan in place.
If there is a simple explanation for this turn of events then HH needs to pick up the phone and make a call before then.
I also agree with Joe that if nothing else he would not be the right man for the job as head of TP&W if for no other reason this his lack of understanding of non-game management.
