food for crickets?

keith_ecko Jul 03, 2007 05:42 PM

Is it okay to feed cat food to crix like you would for roaches? I use Purina Kitten Chow for my Blatta's since it was the highest in protein (45%) so I thought I could use it for crickets as well. Opinions anyone????

I have never heard of using dog or cat food for crickets. I allways use the green gut load from the pet store as well and potaoes and any left over vegi's.

Cat/kitten food is fine. It should be ground, though. There's a lot of things that you can feed crickets.

Breakfast cereal (the more healthy choices like bran, corn flakes, etc...)
Fish food (flakes or ground pellets)
Chicken feed (laying mash or other "mash" type)
And on, and on.......

Later!

yep, kitten or cat chow can be used for crickets. ground up or crushed works best.

Fresh greens work well too, keeps crickets well hydrated.
