a hatchling q'

Rouen Jul 03, 2007 07:13 PM

one of my 3 is still not growing, I assume he has something wrong with him, though I dont know what, I know some others here have had hatchling that never really grew, what is the usual life span for these little guys?
he'll be a year old in sept. and is still around an inch SCL with no growth rings, he's been eating very well for the past couple of months, eating almost everything I put infront of him, even eats more than the colorful one, they spend the day outside in 50/50 sun/shade.

I have a couple of 'runts' that are coming up on 2 yrs. of age. They did eventually start to show signs of growth, and are growing well now, but are considerably smaller than their clutch-mates.

Other than their (comparatively) small size, they seem to be doing well, and I find it helpful to remind myself that the ones that grew faster are really the ones I should consider 'abnormal' giants: they certainly wouldn't get that big that quickly in nature.

I had four ornates hatch in 2002(2 clutches of 2, same mom) and one of them, for the longest time, never seemed to grow, though he would eat. He has grown but much more slowly than his siblings. I have him with my 2004 babies because I'm afraid that some of the larger 3 toeds in the 2002 group would bite his head off.

I would just keep feeding your "runt" and see what happens.
