NEWS-LEADER (Springfield, Missouri) 03 July 07 Hospital seeks dismissal of snake bite lawsuit
St. John’s Hospital seeks to dismiss a Kansas man’s lawsuit over a snake bite treatment.
Shane Parker of Great Bend filed a petition in May claiming St. John’s emergency care providers used improper techniques to treat a snake bite on his left index finger on May 13, 2005.
Springfield attorney Randy Cowherd, who represents St. John’s, filed a motion to dismiss the case last month. Cowherd contended Parker’s claims were barred by the statute of limitations, among other arguments.
Parker is representing himself in the case and seeks compensation. Parker claimed his finger “will no longer straighten out and does not function in a normal manner.”
