A couple summers ago we had some electrical problems. Dead of summer our breaker broke, in 90 degree weather, and the AC shut down. But the power going to the heat pads & lamps stayed on. As some of you know.
That summer I lost a corn snake, my male ghost/white-sided Everglades rat, a ball python, my male Hog Island boa (who was replaced about a year ago now), and a couple other animals, all due to heat stroke.
I found out today that it wasn't the male Everglades that died. It was the female. Or maybe they were both females . . . But either way, my 'male' 'glades, who hasn't been with a female for well over two years laid an entire clutch of slugs! I don't have a clue when they were laid, as they were in the hide box, but they're still slimy, which I'm thinking means it was probably last night.
So, now that I know I have a female who's going to lay eggs every year without being cycled or even prepared for it, (hell, i didn't even know she was gravid!), I guess I should find a male to pair her up with! Anyone know where I can find a male ghost/white-sided Everglades rat?
