Mangrove Monitor question on housing ect

DadeHerper Jul 04, 2007 01:26 PM

I have a male Mangrove monitor which is 4 and a half feet long.I am going to soon be placing him in a new enclosure and need some ideas on how to set up a water basin for soaking/swimming.I want to make the cage look as naturalisticte as possible I am thiking about incorprating plants into the water area by creating the water area I was hoping to use a rubbermaid tub covered with a thick sheet of corkbark or some other type of wood suitable to high humidity around the outside to hide the plastic. The cage I will be using once my friend finishes it will be 4hx4lx2d. If any one here could post any pics or ideas I would appericate it this is one of my favorite moitors I have owned yet! Magroves Rule!

Thanks,DadeHerper

First things first, a 4 1/2 monitor in a naturalistic 4foot cage. Why not just shoot it and get it overwith? adult mangroves REQUIRE cages 8ft and over, at least in one direction. Please, and that would be small.

Then when you make things naturalistic, it usually means taking up space. But it does not have too mean that if the stuff is usable.

But a four foot cage with a water basin is really messing with any usable space. GO LARGER, cheers
