I had something wierd happen today, I fed the baby Collareds some small crickets, the lizards chased them and eat them as normal but four of the babies were instantly parrelized, I got two of them back to normal but the other two are breathing but not moving, it's like the crickets had deadly stingers, has anyone seen this before?

I know that paralysis can happen with baby beardies if the crickets are too big for them. Were the crickets bigger than 1/2 the size of the baby collareds head? I haven't heard of it happening with collareds, but I bet it is possible. Are they moving again now? If not, you might want to try a very shallow, back and head well above water, tepid bath. I have heard tha this works with beardes who have this problem. If it doesn't I personally would go o a herp vet.

Were they eating crickets from this batch for awhile without being sick/ or was today the first time they had them?

Anything sprayed near the crickets, or used in there container? Were they fed anything different? I'm talking about what the crickets may have eaten, any fruit or veggies that may not have been washed /sprayed with something at the store???

Sounds to me like the crickets had something on them, or in them that was slightly toxic and affected them, like we would have an allergic reaction, and not breath well. Also are the crickets damp at all, if their container gets damp they can get a fungal diease that will make lizards sick. Crickets have to be kept extremely dry.

They are the only things I can think off off the top of my head Cecil. I sure hope the kids will be okay. I don't think I would use those crickets.

I always wondered if it was genetic, because I only saw it in one group of lizards I had. I lost a lot of babies to strange seizures...the would just freak out, and it was like all their muscles tetanized at the same time. I had a few recover, but several others that did not. I don't think it was related to the food, but something either in development or something in their genes. Sad to witness because there is nothing you feel you can do.

This was a new 1000 pack from rainbow worm company, I normaly get them for Reptile Depot, but I wasn't out that way when I needed bugs and out of convenence I went to Rainbow witch is a fishing bait suppier, I'm going to Reptile Depot to day for some new crickets

Thanks
Cecil

PS;
When they bit down on the crickets there mouth went wide open and the body went stiff and as it relaxed they went limp,but all seem ok now, so far

I don't think it's the crickets, I went to put water in the bowl and when the lizards got excited and were running around, two of them seized up and it took a while for them to come out of it, but they eat and went on like as if nothing happend after about 30 min., they are the larger of the group, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Hi Cecil, since it is happening without the food now,

I kinda agree with Jonheee, there is a weird thing that happens sometimes when they are young.
I had it happen the year I got Micmac from Paul M. He was fine then one day I looked and he seemed to wobble a bit and then had a seizure of some kind and everything went rigid. Within a few minutes he resumed his normal activitites :0) like nothing happened.

This repeated several more times. I then made sure he had plenty of calcium but also gave him a few drops of vitimin B. it never seemed to happen again. Very weird. I guess he was lacking something he needed.
