Collection-setting things up.

I have a large Freedom Breeder rack, a medium Melamine rack for Yearlings, a Vision hatchling rack and adult rack. I am looking for some different ways to set up my projects. What I mean is, thinking about keeping all my females in the FB, and the males in the Vision. Or, keeping the projects togather, for example in the Freedom Breeder, put my male Pastel Het Clown in the first tub, and the two Het Clown females in the next two tubs, next to him. Basically, setting up the projects on the same shelf or shelves. How do you all do it?

If I remember correctly, Greg Graziani sets up his racks exactly the same way Adrian. Male on bottom in one rack and the females he is going to breed him to right above.

I haven't gotten that organized yet.

I have about 40 balls at the moment. My Vision racks currently have the largest tubs, so my adult females go in there. Most of my males are young and are still comfortable in 32 quart racks.

ROFLMAO - Mine are randomly distributed throughout the racks. I keep thinking I should put them in some kind of order - but then thought "why" - I know where they all are and what they are all doing - why bother - I have other things to be anal about than what order they are in. LOL

I have all the girls in a project together, and all the males in tubs next too each other.
So basically, I have a rack of males, and all of the girls are clumped together in groups of tub rows or columns, depending.
I also mark the tubs with colored dots to remind me of the projects they will be going into for the year.

But, for the most part, one would think you would be able to recognize who, where and what your planned breedings are for the year, considering you have a whole year to plan it out.

I know I do.

Dave,

It's been a while since I posted here. Anyways, I arrange my racks similar to other posters. I arrange projects vertically, male on the bottom and females I will breed with them in the tubs above. As a side note, i generally keep any females and males that will not be of breeding size (even if they will be part of a specific project the the next breeding season)in a sererate rack. I do this and dont drop the temps in that rack during breeding hoping the snakes will stay on feed through the whole year. It seems to work most of the time.

P.S. How's the Ember project going? any clutches incubating?

I like to group males with the females I am going to breed him with also. Some are the male on top and some have the male on the bottom.

I like to seperate my males on different levels and diffferent racks then group the females around them. Just in case a controller or heat tape were to malfunction. This way I wouldn't lose all of my males or females.

It gives me a few things to think about. I know it is not rocket science, but just wanted to see how others have their breeding projects set up...thanks for the responses.
