Sunforce Bulbs...

...from Big Apple is the bulb I have been using. Unbelievable bulb. It has high uvb output and a WIDE spread(like an Osram).Best to have a meter with this bulb. Downside:1 of 4 of mine burned out fast.Upside to the downside: great return and replacement policy/fast service. If you would try to replicate this bulbs spread with a T-rex, you need 3-4 of them.Huge uvb gradient with this bulb.In a small terrarium you could use it for less hours a day, the cage will be flooded with uvb. Like all bulbs they vary, meters are good. Shamu(U.flavifasciata) is getting upgraded to a bigger cage, so bulb #5 is on it's way now. So everybody buy them so they keep making them(haha).Best bulb I know of available to U.S.but it's only been a couple months so I don't know how long they are good for.

Now if they make one like this that reaches 3ft. down at 250 or so mw per cm squared then my egyptians will be set for life(6 mths at a time).Or I could move to Arizona.

It appears that there are two bulb designs regardless of wattage- a short neck, and a longer neck. The longer neck throws farther but I think the short neck is better for smaller setups.
In general, the lizard can fit it's entire body in a high uvb range 200-280 for example, thus hitting more skin and synthesizing more D3,blah-blah,blah,blah,blah.
