Butters VS. Lessers

milkman2 Jul 06, 2007 08:23 PM

I have not seen this posted but have also never really gotten a good answer from anyone I have asked. Other than a slightly yellower tinge, what is the difference between a lesser and a butter. To me they seem like they are just different lines to the same genetic trait. I do know the lessors may or may not contain a hidden gene from platty daddy, but other than that, what is the difference. Someone tell me where I am wrong so I can make up my mind on which one to get.

This is a touchy subject for some, but I think they are the same thing. I personally don't see the more yellow in butters that some see. I would just look for an animal you like and buy it whether it's a lesser or butter. I definitely would not pay any more for a butter than I would for a lesser.

I'd say buy one of each...figure out which one you like best and send the other to me.

I agree with the guys posted above... I have seen a tendency of some butters looking better then the plattys... but i would it's just different lines of the same trait.
