Long Beach Greats....

byron.d Jul 06, 2007 10:52 PM

For me, two of the best things to ever come out of Long Beach are the band Sublime and my pair of W/C Cal kings..

I snagged the female this year and my good friend hooked me up with the male he caught last year.

The female (top photo) is currently gravid.

Sublime does rock, as do those kings...

Byron, those are sweet! Bummer that their habitat is shrinking! Those are some awesome looking Kings! I'm tempted to go out to Long Beach and poke around there, but I wouldn't even know where to begin. My parents live up in Baldwin Hills. I used to run around those hills back in HS. I threw some boards up there on the 4th. Ever seen any Kings from that locale?

Wow, that's awesome you already bread it. That was my very first L.B. kingsnake, I'll never forget that find, especially where it was found. The whole area around that spot has been scraped out in the past few months, I hope that spot isn't next. If it does go at least you'll keep the line going. I'm very glad you liked it, that snake has a very nice face pattern compared to all the others I've found at that spot. Here is a comparison shot of him on the right to an Elsinore king on the left.

Reako- I hope Byron doesn't mind me answering this question but you can find some kings there like the ones posted here.

I owe this clutch to you man - well how about half?? Thanks again for the awesome male and sharing some of your field hunting skills.
It really is a shame what's happening to all the LA county habitat.. I just want to keep the bloodline going - it's the least we can do considering they were here long before us.

thanks again bro!

ummm.... yeah, I forgot, she's not gravid.... it must have been gas swelling her up.....

If she thows a hyper - which is very possible, you and I will be doing some 'rock, paper, scissors' for it.

Good looking out bro.

Seeing that pair, really makes me wish that I had kept my Hermosa Beach pair! I guess I really didn't know what I had at the time. Most people on this forum don't realize how built up L.A. Co. is. I think its up to 16 million people living there now? That doesn't leave much room for native fauna. Congratulations!
