I'm a huge fan of Greenies. That one is a beauty. I like the extra yellow in her. Good luck with the eggs. How was your hatch rate last year?
Nice!! Good job man!! They are on my wish list of future critters. good to see some other people having luck with them. They were supposed to be my next purchase but I got distracted with Black Head Pythons at amazingly good prices!! Maybe next year I can finally get them... or Hundred Flower Rat snake
One or the other.
Jason
That snake looks great! Are they under 2k yet?

Gregg Feaster will undoubtedly have more this year. His price has been much better than the inflated prices you see from some folks on KS. His site is Greggsrb.com. If you are anywhere near Chicago, I have a friend up there who will probably have some at the Tinley Park show this winter. (Many of the Green Rats drop eggs late in the year.)I haven't talked to him lately but they will probably be about $550/pair.
Mark
Now you know 2 guys in the Chi-town area with WGR!
Next year my Bajas should breed as well.

Heck, I didn't realize you were in that area. What suburb? I grew up in Mundelein.
You are the only one I know who has been getting early breeding. The standard seems to be fall eggs.
Interestingly, I may be looking for Bajas next year. I like those Central American Rats.
I live in Bloomingdale, a western burb.
I bred Bajas in the late 90's, my current female is SMOKEN!!
The best I've seen!
Here's my sliver blonde pair.

Hi Mark, I received eggs from a greenrat a week ago as well. I thought it was kinda late. She laid 7 large eggs.
Are you still living in Tucson? Cheers
I'm "technically" still living in Tucson. At least that's where the family and snakes are located. I got sent to work at a NATO Headquarters in Turkey for a year. It could certainly be worse but a year away from home still sucks. I expect to return in early Sep. If I don't see you in the hills, we'll talk at the Tucson Show. I'll still be driving that nuclear yellow XTerra.
A week ago? Very interesting. That's two folks with summer clutches. New questions to answer - always a fun thing.
Glad to hear it! That is still a little high for my budget but is only 1/10 of what I had seen them at
Are they like your typical rats care/disposition wise? I.E. blacks, greys, yellows, and glades?

For my taste, nothing is as nice as an Obsoleta or Corn. My wife and I keep several Triaspis. They are not difficult but also not for an average keeper. They are more secretive, less tolerant of handling and they like to eat in their hide box. Contrary to most folks, I like to keep mine in roomier cages. Here is a shot from a few years a go of a male in a climbing tree.

So they are a lot like a mandarin but they like it warmer...?

Not sure about Manderin temps? I keep my Greens at 78 degrees.
A moist hide is a must!

The sheet I read said about 83... So if they do in fact do best in the 70's then i guess they sound pretty close to mandarins. They are gorgeous snakes and I wouldn't mind having a pair but I think i will wait a few years and see if they come down anymore
I still have plenty of corn morphs, black rat morphs, yellow rats, grey rats, and everglades on my list before I get anything too expensive....

I'm not sure who wrote the sheet you read but 83 is too warm for Greens. Mine get no extra heat - except gravid females.
When did you see green rats for $2,000? Are you sure you're not thinking of prasina or some other Asian Rat?
Western Green Rats(Senticolis triaspis) were $400-600ea at the highest in the early 1990's.
Since then they have hovered around $200-300ea for about 10 years.
Maybe I just thought it was higher.... I was pretty sure that they were a lot more expensive though.

David, they aren't anything like a Mandarin. They might prefer similar temps, but they are a very different snake, not even closely related.
