Swift Burrowing Normal??

Swuft Feb 07, 2003 10:27 PM

I have just purchased a swift, which the pet store owner called a curly tailed Swift. I brought him home and I placed him in his aquarium. I left and when returned about 5 min later he had burrowed into the sand in which I use for the ground cover. I have owned swifts before (2 fence swifts) and they were happy sitting on the climbing areas I provided. Is is the species habit to burrow, or is it too cold ro perhaps scared. I have put a large climibing branch in the enclosure which also provides some nice hiding areas underneath since it is so twisted. What should I do?

Thanks ALOT!!! That helped a bunch. For anyone wanting to know, and not have the time to read it said that the Curly Tailed Lizard will burrow if given the material to do so. However being from a more dryer area you will need to keep temps. 85 degrees (f) and a basking spot with the temps around 90 degrees (f). Nighttime temps in the 70's.

Thanks again for your help, I am glad too see he isn't stressed ^.^
