What type of snake is this? I was about 30 minutes due south of Portland (Hubbard). It seemed to be a juvenile since it was only about 16 inches long.

What type of snake is this? I was about 30 minutes due south of Portland (Hubbard). It seemed to be a juvenile since it was only about 16 inches long.
That was a Red-Spotted Garter (T.sirtalis concinnus). Not all Red-Spots will have a redhead. Some specimens will even lack the red over their entire body.
