Ok, start with several hundred thousand acres. Get pine species specific to that region and plant numerous individuals of multiple age classes. Then fill in with other dominant and subdominant tree/shrub species. Round off with local grass and forbe species to get the right look. Now for the hard part...reproduction of the geologic and climactic conditions. You get the idea.
Go on line and google pine barrens for images of the area. The more naturalistic you go with the enclosure the more time and effort you will have to invest to keep the encloser clean and nice looking. Snakes typically tare an enclosure up in a relatively short span of time. I suggest a few big rocks, a hide, some bark, what ever else and expect to toss everything out covered with fecal matter every few weeks and replace with fresh. Good luck, you are braver than I.
been there, done that & found out john's right. i got tired of constantly 'sprucing' up the cages & eventually went the newspaper route. much, much easier esp. if you have mutiple snakes! good luck however........
