monitor1o1 Aug 18, 2003 12:51 PM

ok so i'm pretty sure i'm getting a black throat for christmas. and i was wondering if i could build a cage in my garage! But the tempiture in the summer goes up to like 98F in the summer is that to hot for a b/t monitor? oh and how is the temperament of black throats, are they as mean and nasty as savannahs or are they calmer and easier to handle?
anyway what's going on in the monitor world i haven't been here in a couple of weeks?
thanks
talk soon
Alex

A Blackthroat is a giant Sav that will NOT hesitate to let you know when you piss them off.Sav's are more docile than Blackthroat's,but both are great monitors.98 degrees! Are you nuts?My garage has A/C,but you can't keep them in heat like that. It's up to you to take care of them and figure these things out ahead of time.My monitors are in a 76 degree house with cages that are suitable temps 78-140.You might want to re-think things or get an Egyptian Uromastyx I have one of those too and they love heat

Hello, albigs are awsome, if you meet their conditions, they need extremely large enclosures, and eat A LOT!!! 98 F. is way to hot for a cool side, in fact that should be the extreme for the hot side, give or take a couple; it is always better to have a cooler room temp, it is easier to control, they have to have basking temps of at least 120 F, or higher, and it is harder to achieve this unless you cool the room, or enclosure..
