Little Pastel Hatchling Update!

reptilicus81 Jul 10, 2007 09:38 AM

Hey, I found that the baby finally exited the egg after about 40 hours It is very fat with yolk!

I am going to hold off sexing it until it is established, but it weighs just 34 grams. I think it is a very nice pastel, but we'll have to wait until post shed pics Oddly enough last years pastel produced from a very dark female was loaded with blushing, but not very clean. This one is very clean (so far), but has virtually no blushing haha!

it looks very nice but now the work really starts. I'm working on a 24g pastel that hatched a month ago and so far I've gotten it to hold down one fuzzy mouse that I had to help it with. One more week and complete force feeding for her.

Yeah, I'm very afraid of that! I don't think I've ever had a baby under 75 grams! I heard "boob" eggs tend to be small hatchlings, so I did expect it!

Good luck with your baby!

A nice looker!
why wouldnt you want any blushing? I think they look much better.
This is my first season and all of mine were between 45-50 grams and all were out on day 56 and 57.

If breeding to spiders, pins or any other morph without blushing ya might not want it in the pastel your breeding them to(IMO blushing spider or pins don't look that great) but if your making supers or crossing with clown, ghost, YB, that type of morph you would want a lot of blushing in your pastel as well just depends what you are trying to make.
