looking for some ideas on what to use for a cricket cage and some general care guidelines for keeping them. I was thinking of keeping about 300 at a time. So was trying to see how others do it

I use Rubbermaid roughneck totes in various sizes for my crickets. I use no substrate, a pile of egg crates and two deli cups, one with dirt for eggs in the adult boxes and one with food. Keep them at about 80 and they will be fine. You can put about 2K in adults in a 25 gal roughneck, need like 10 egg crates but they are fine.
Cheers

If you get some of the silver metal tape around the edge of the tub, it will keep them from climbing the walls and getting out.
Make sure that you get something to keep them hydrated. Either get the gel cubes or you can get some sponges and keep them very damp. The crickets will "drink" from the sponges. If the sponges get dry, the crickets will still chew on them.

Rob

I use a cooler, like you would use with drinks, and drill holes in the top and have the egg crates in there. I keep 1000 at a time in there.
TS
what i do (to keep 1000 ) is i took a garbage can, plastic, cut the inside of the lid off, leaving nothing to the lid but the kind of 'frame' around the perimetre. then i glued screen to that.
so its already like a garbage can cage.
then put that (clear packing) tape around the inside edges so they dont escape.
and feed thema and all lol..
