Pond Creatures?

TonyC130 Jul 10, 2007 05:09 PM

Hey everyone I'm thinking of putting a shallow pond in my enclosure, you know, one with a liner and a filter system but I would also like it to be like a mini ecosystem with newts, salamanders, frogs and maybe some fish and crayfish.

What would be the harm in this and what are you guys' thoughts?

Your turtle(s) may see all of those other creatures are a potential buffet. Be prepared for some of the slower ones to go missing.

Pond are good if designed correctly. We have three in one inclusure and one in the other and they wade in and out all the time. The only creatures which "stayed" are frogs and salamanders in the logs and heavy leave piles. No deep ends and no drop-off edges. Good luck

Yup, you'd be stocking your pond with turtle food.

When we put the pond in our turtle enclosure, we had a frog move in within a few weeks. It also disappeared rather abruptly....
