New Jersey 7/8/07

another jersey trip ,more bad photographs ,sorry folks.my close ups suck. This time yields a few different species than the normal .first off starting with a box turtle i found once i hopped the fence to my spot.Next was a ground skink found under a 1X6 under a powerline trail around 7 am

after the skink i did some fishing and while fishing i found this awesome eastern ribbon snake making his way into some shrubbery around 8 am

after finding the ribbon and catching 8 lunker bass in about an hour i gave up fishing an headed back to the pines , I flipped a piece of plywood and found a tiger salamander

Heres some frog shots, tons of leopard and pickerel frogs all day with a couple spring peepers, treefrogs and cricket frogs mixed in the bunch .juvenille and adult toads were scattered around all day as well.
Spring peepers

Gray treefrog

Toad

Now a adult Norther black racer found under a piece of carpet

and now the highlight of the day , 2 box turtles mating and then about 20 feet away in a almost dried up pool we found 5 more box's digging under the mud all within 10 feet of each other, amazing stuff!
The Breeding Box's- this is a first for me , and am i wrong or isnt it realy late for them to be breeding

The bathing Box's- it was a scorcher that day ,they definately had the right idea

and then some ok sunset shots to end the day off

once again, sorry for the bad shots and enjoy

Wow. Sounds like my kind of day. However, I can't believe that you caught 8 lunker bass and took no photos of them (or at least didn't post them)! Without evidence to back up such a claim, I can only assume it's a fish story, haha.

Haha, no worries. It's all good. So you got good fishing over there, huh? Wish I could say the same.

well its not all that great , out of about 20 different ponds and lakes in south jersey , this one is the only one i fish at , noone goes back there, its actualy all gated off and no tresspassing signs everywere . its and old filled in quarry , theres 6 ifferent lake/ponds they mined out and stocked becuase water automaticly filled in there like a well . theyve been there for almsot 2 decades and the bass are just thriving like crazy there, we actualy got kicked out this weekend , kinda a bummer . also my best herping spot so far
