OK, I don't chat here much because I got rid of all my corns but my 1 male blood red.
Yesterday I remembered that I brought home 2 mice for him. Keep in mind this snake is NUTS.
I had the 2 mice in one hand by their tails. Normally I open the lid to his tub toss one in, and the second gets tossed in a bucket to be fed in about 15 minutes.
I open the lid, he was already looking forward with his head on his water bowl. The water moved as I pulled the tub forward, he struck twice at the water moving. Then a strike just in my direction for kicks I guess.
I could not pass the opportunity to laugh. In that moment he grabbed 1 mouse in his mouth, and before I could pull the second away, he released the 1st with his mouth only to grab mouse number 2. Hard to believe, but he actually let go of mouse #2 with his mouth only and was starring at me. I guess for #3?
He killed and ate both. He is maybe 30" and eats 2-3 mice a week. He is NOT under fed. But if someone told me this story I don't think I ever would have believed it.
I just hope he's as good a breeder as a eater.
