Can you feed Beavertail Cactus to your desert tortoise or will the small Glochids tiny, sharp, bristle hairs hurt them.

Just remove the glochids. I feed opuntia to my tortoise, and I happen to have a variety with lots of spines and glochids. I hold the pad with a tweezers and burn the spines and most of the glochids off with a cigarette lighter. Then I take the back of a spoon or knife and scrape the rest of the glochids off.
