Tim - there are some tricks to shooting through glass -
First - try to put the lens close, or touching the glass. If you can't put it right on the glass, try to use your free hand to sheild the lens from the flash.
second, if you are back away from the glass, do not shoot directly at the subject, make it on an angle so the light reflections bounce away from you instead of back to the camera. You can also put the subject off center and crop removing the the flash reflection.
third.. manual focus is your friend.. auto focus will sometimes pick up a scratch in the glass or particle in the water.. use the manual focus and manually expose the shot if possible.
Last - it takes some luck. Find a place on the glass with little to no smudges and scratches (much easier said then done usually). Play with it and take lots of pics. It helps if you are there sometime other then peak hours so you don't have to deal with a lot of people..
>>do you get good pics through the glass. i have tried cloe up far away flash on flasgo off macro on macro off iso on iso off any combination i can think of together seprate etc and i still get blurrs every time i try to take pics thru glass so whats the secret specialy at a aquarium/zoo cause the zoo here the fish/reptile room is dark but they have the cages/tanks somewhat lit up
