Vet certificate for torts (sulcatas)?

cliff chisum Aug 18, 2003 02:55 PM

Do you still need a cert from the vet to ship hatchling sulcatas
out of the state of texas? How much(approx) is the cert for about 40 torts.

Yes, you still need a health certificate for sulcata, leopard, and Bell's hingeback tortoises before they cross ANY state line. The certificate is to ensure they are tick-free. For more information, contact contact David Wilson, senior staff entomologist, emergency programs, VS, APHIS, 4700 River Road, Unit 41, Riverdale, Md. 20737, (301) 734-8073.

As for cost, that's between you and your vet.

I forgot to add that the certificate is good for 30 days from issue.
