Web Designing Software

Eby Jul 11, 2007 01:02 PM

Can anyone recommend a good web designing software package.

My websites need an overhaul. I want to add extensive photos (with thumbnails linking to full size), interactive maps, streaming video, email forms and questionnaires, multiple pages, lots of links, counters, blogs, perhaps a forum, etc. My daughter is great with graphics and very good with CSS and OK with HTML. She can handle the initial set-up, but I need to be able to handle the routine updates (adding photos, text, etc) and I’m a tech-Neanderthal.

My budget is about $250 -preferably less.

If you are using a mac there is iWeb built in to the new operating system. Basic templates fot just about everthing.

It has Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and a bunch of other good stuff. Very user friendly and easy.

I don't do anything fancy with websites, but I bought Namo Web Suite based on some online reviews I did. It is under $100 and pretty full featured. It does a lot more than I am interested in or understand.

I have Namo, Front Page, and dream weaver. Front Page although very easy is kinda limiting on what it will do and always wants to reconfigure your html to frontpage style htm(l). Dreamweaver is like photoshop. It's unlimited in what it can do but there is a steep learning curve. Namo has the WYSIWYG screens, premade, templates, and (if you wish) full html programming if you want to get creative. I end up using Namo for most of my stuff.
