New Corn

Novasnake Jul 11, 2007 05:14 PM

Well I just got another corn to add to my collection. This guy is great, always rears up like he is about to strike but then backs off.

One question though, my two aren't living together but sometimes when I take them out at the same time and they move around together they will do this weird twitchy thing for a few seconds and then resume.....any ideas?

Most male snakes do that when they smell or see another snake. its really popular during breeding season...

Kiki is right. But it goes beyond that. Two male or two females put togather will sometimes do the "twitching" as well. I have a pair of Russian Ratsnakes. If I take one out, handle it, and then put it back in the cage and get the other one, it will twitch. So you don't need snake-to-snake contact to make them twitch - sometimes just a scent will be enough to cause this behavior.

I've even had new substrate cause them to do the twitch.
