norcal / bay area get together

edkim Jul 11, 2007 08:09 PM

anyways, i've been talking with a couple people about setting up another norcal get together. i think the tahoe trip may have been too big of a commitment for some people, so we figured something during the day/evening may be a better start.

here are a couple ideas i thought i'd throw out:
1. Food and drink and the new Hooters over in Fremont
2. Poker and barbeque (i can volunteer my place)
3. Just catch some drinks at a bar
4. Fishing

Any and all suggestions or feedback are welcome. i've been looking forward to some type of norcal get together for some time now, it would be nice to put a face to a name and get to know some of the people in the area.

let me know what you think. thanks.

I'm down for #2.....I heard Ruben is working at that hooters...Might be a bit uncomfortable with him wearing those skimpy outfits.....

I'm down for whatever whenever, just let me know.

Sounds like a great idea to me, would the poker be "boa poker"? 2 sounds like the best for me too, if you wait until after aug 18 (opening day of archery deer season) I'll bring down some venision, (hopefully), but I am always down for fishing especially down in the bay area, its cool to catch trout all day up here, but once in a while it would be nice to catch something with some weight down in the bay area. Thanks, Nick

I couldn't make Tahoe, but I'm down for whatever around here. We need to get Alex, Matt, Shane and Derrick to join us.

I'll call your Sharp Sunglow & raise you a Motley. Can't fish on the bay, weak stomach lol. I could fish in South Tahoe. Let me know the majority vote Eddie.

No way! A Boa owner and an archer in the Nor Call!?! I thought I was the only one! Hunting is not too popular in the Bay Area!

I’m Doing B and D7 this year, didn’t put in for any X zones. I’m just a little into archery; I made a compound for Mc Pherson 10years back and now I make my own recurves and bow sights.

Oops, I forgot this is the Boa forum not the archery forum.

so far we have Brett, Nick, Justin, and Derek. it seems the poker and bbq is the most popular idea for now. we already have enough for a decent poker game, but if we're really playing for boas, i say we all chip in and fly big mike up here too lol.

Maybe all the sac area folk can setup a car to drive together.

We are still waiting on:
Alex Smith
Alex (Boarepublic)
Matt Crabe
Shane Kinney
Dave Colling
Brian Gundy
Ruben
Fred Byars
Linda Hedgpath (eh. i know it's far but i thought i would throw it out there)
Ken Burns
Dave Lee

if i forgot you name, i apologize, but feel free to let me know if you're interested.

anyways keep the responses coming. i'm keeping a spreadsheet of all the responses, so we'll do a final tally on the number of people and the preferred event. by the way, i'm still open to any other suggestions you guys may have.

thanks guys.

I don't think I've met any of you in person but I work and live in the South Bay. I’m small time compared to some of you, I only have 10 snakes and only 3 are Boas but I wouldn’t mind meeting some local snake nuts. Are snakes invited or just photo albums and slide shows…just kidding.

How about going to the beach and having a BBQ, poker and fishing? There is all kinds of picnic/ fishing/ ect. in the Bay Area; Los Gatos Creek Park, Lexington Reservoir…

I'm down for a little BBQ/Poker as long as Ruben is there wearing his wife beater talking about Sharps all night! lol. Just give me a day and time so I can confirm. I'm still down for South Lake Tahoe and was up there again the weekend before last.

ectothermz Jul 12, 2007 10:56 PM

Ruben talk about Sharps. Never.

AbsoluteApril Jul 13, 2007 11:36 AM

Just shoot me an email, when and where... my guy and I would love to chat herps, most of our friends are not into them.
I'm in the east bay.

works from Kingsnake? I e-mailed you a while back and didn't get a response. At the same time, mine was acting up also so I don't know if it even went through.

AbsoluteApril Jul 13, 2007 01:26 PM

Hi Ruben!

Hmmm, it should work, but sometimes things go into my 'bulk' folder and I just empty that one out since I get so much junk email.
Try again and I'll keep my eyes out for it!

thanks!

Hey April,

When did you move to the east bay? I thought you were in Vegas or something. I live in Vallejo and work in Concord.

Matt

AbsoluteApril Jul 13, 2007 03:22 PM

Hi Matt,

Yup, you are right. I moved to Vegas in 2003 from San Jose but had an opportunity to come back here, so I took it. I moved back in Oct 2006 and am very glad to have returned to beautiful CA! I always end up back in the Bay no matter where I go. Hopefully I'll never leave again.
