wax worms for babies

fireballdragonz Jul 12, 2007 02:05 AM

I was wondering at what age could baby dragons eat wax worms, I never thought about feeding them this before but I just bought a cup for my adults. I hardly every get them from my dragons when I do its just for treats until I run out. The size is in the range it needs to be for the babies and all so I don’t see a problem there. They are soft bodied as well so no impaction, and also high in fat which I think would be a good thing for a growing baby. The age group I’m talking about is 5 weeks and older or at least 6 inches.
Any info would help
Thanks Jason

jason-
wax worms should only be given as a treat once in awhile. they are very high in fat. age and size not much of a concern, same old rule applies, size of the space between their eyes.

if your looking for a good worm that lives a long time and is a great feeder, try pheonix worms. they need little to no care, they live in their cups without feeding them. and are very high in calcium. these are awesome feeders, i love em. clientedragons has em for sale for 5.55 a cup of 100 large on the classifieds. they are mainly for smaller dragons as they only get about an inch long or so. not worth giving them to an adult dragon as they wont fill them up. for adults id go with butterworms, hornworms, and silkworms. supers and meals worms arent worth it either.

I agree with what "beachbeardies" said; "wax worms should only be given as a treat once in awhile. they are very high in fat. age and size not much of a concern, same old rule applies, size of the space between their eyes."

Have a good one!
