Do you think this is Genetic?

boaphile Jul 12, 2007 11:57 AM

This is an import Colombian Anerythristic. Abberant Anerys are very unusual and I jumped at getting my grubby hands on this puppy. So do you think this wacky pattern will be genetic?

What is that? An anery jungle? Has that been done yet?

It sure looks like an Anery Jungle but it is an Anery now yet to be proven anything more yet...

Being a novice breeder with limited knowledge on morphs.......

In my humble opinion,I say Yes.

The reason being is...

Most abberant patterns being genetic or temp induced are NEVER

CHAIN LIKE or OUTLINEd in BLACK.

They are mostly smeared, smudged or draged.

Those patterns are too Defined and Organized very much like the Jungle patterns.

Therefore I say GENETIC.

Wow that would be amazing if you stumbled across another Jungle form.

Good Luck and I Hope he/she Proves out for you.

Couldn't happened to a nicer guy.

The nicest guy I have had the pleasure to ever meet through the Reptile hobby is Denny Rimes. They do not get any nicer. Mark Kennedy is a very very close second to Denny though. Another gem of a guy that Markie Mark Kennedy. Me a nice guy? More like a big mouth I say but very nice of you to say so even if it isn't true. I do likes my Boas though and that's is usually the reason I open the big yap.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I agree and think that it will prove genetic too. Aberrancies are just so unusual in Anerys and I want it to be so bad I think I can just "will" it so. Or at least I hope so...

Hopefully for you it will be genetic. I remember several years ago there were a number of animals with this "Chain link" pattern that were being sold. I don't see any examples of Chain link combination morphs out there so I assume that they proved to not be genetic. Maybe you will be the lucky one that has a genetic chain link pattern. Good luck.

I've also seen a few with that type of pattern in classifieds from time to time, not sure if any of those proved genetic, but I personally haven't heard any of them being proven yet.

Of course, I hope it does prove out, as it is a neat and unique pattern.
Good luck!

I sure hope it's attitude isn't genetic!!

As far as the rest, time will tell. I hope that pattern does prove to be inheritable, that would make some really nice babies.

Unfortunately I think he is a she or is he/she?

The fellow I got it from bought it as a male. I bought it from him as a male. I raised for three years as a male. I didn't "sex" it beyond a visual as it was obviously a male. I tried to breed it the past two season with a couple females with no courtship whatsoever. Other males would court those females but not this just under 4' whatever it is. Visually it is a male with large spurs. I have tried and tried to get it to probe male. It comes up female every time. So I am now feeding it like a female and have been for about four months. I will be trying to breed a male with it this fall and hope it turns out to be a female. Although part of me still really would rather breed "him" to more than one female. Either way I would not ask for or even want my money back. It is one of my favorite Boas in the place.

I am so confused now I don't know whether I am coming or going.

The pattern is nearly an exact match for this Hypo Jungle I pried from Derek "The Big Boss Man" Yagi's grip after he produced him last year:

I hesitate to say this as some with think it is sacreligeous almost, but I am thinking about breeding a male Jungle with it just to see if we can make... "Super Jungles" with it...

I hope I hope I hope I hope...

Wish me luck!

That snake looks very familiar. Haven't you had that one for a while? If not you, someone else out there had a very similar anery a couple years ago. Good luck either way.
